Laws to be amended to complete rape case trial in 90 days: Law adviser

Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has said the government has initiated a process to amend existing laws for ensuring trials of rape cases within 90 days.

He said the decision was taken during a meeting in the presence of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and several advisers on Sunday amid reports of rape incidents across Bangladesh.

Speaking to reporters at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon, the law adviser also said the timeframe for investigation into rape cases will be reduced to 15 days.
