A young man named Rubel Hossain allegedly hacked his wife and mother-in-law to death by entering the house at midnight in Sadar upazila of Bogura district.
The deceased were identified as Sakhina Begum, 35, and her mother Anwara Begum, 58, of Sabgram Moddhopara area of the upazila, according to media reports.
Locals and relatives of the victims said after seven years of marriage with Rubel, Sakhina got separated about one month ago over a family dispute.
On Friday night, when Rubel went to his ex-wife Sakhina's house, the argument started.
At one point, Rubel hit Sakhina with a sharp with a sharp weapon. Sakhina’s mother was also scolded when she tried to stop him.
Hearing the screams of the mother and daughter, the locals rescued them and sent them to the hospital.
Sakhina died early morning and Anwara died around 10:30 am while undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
SM Moinuddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said they are trying to arrest Rubel.
