Police have recovered the body of a man with his throat slit in Cumilla’s Muradnagar Upazila.
His body was found in the southern field of B Chapitala village in Ramchandrapur North Union of the Upazila on Tuesday morning, said Bangra Bazar Police Station chief (OC) Md Abdul Quader.
The dead man, 32-year-old Ershad Mia, was a local resident.
Ershad's father, Abdul Haque, said his son used to drive a car. However, he got involved in drugs for a few years and became entangled in criminal offences. Although his family tried to get him to abandon the criminal life, he did not.
It is believed that he may have been killed due to a dispute over drugs or the sharing of spoils, says OC Quader.
A knife has been recovered from the scene as well.
When informed, Muradnagar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police AKM Kamruzzaman inspected the scene.
The OC also said that the body has been sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem.
