A youth was beaten to death by an angry mob on suspicion of theft in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Shahin, 23, son of Mostafa from Gajgah area of the upazila. Three others were injured in the incident.
The injured were identified as Suman Sheikh (25), Parvez (18), and Enamul (25)— all residents of Nagarkanda. Another individual named Jihad (24) reportedly fled the scene.
Police and locals said that the critically injured youth was rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital after he and his three associates had been beaten, allegedly for stealing a three-wheeler. Shahin later died while undergoing treatment.
Nagarkanda Police Station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Md Rezaul Karim confirmed the incident on Monday morning. He said legal action in connection with the incident is underway.
