‘Mugger’ held while fleeing with valuables

Police arrested an alleged mugger while fleeing after looting valuables from two rickshaw passengers in the city's Khilgaon area on Sunday morning.

The arrestee is Md Rabiul Islam, 35.

Police said one Md Mostafa and his daughter were going to their relative's house at Block-C of Khilgaon by a rickshaw from Kamalapur Railway Station.

When they reached in front of Khilgaon Ansar headquarters, the 'snatcher' appeared on the scene by a motorbike around 7:30 am and took away valuables, including cash money and mobile phones, from them at knifepoint, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman.

Hearing screams of the victims, a patrol team of Khilgaon Police Station went to the spot and chased the 'mugger', he said.

At one stage, they caught him and recovered the snatched valuables from his possession, Masud added.

A case was filed with Khilgaon Police Station in this connection.
