One arrested for deceiving people posing as home minister’s nephew

Police arrested an absconding suspect who allegedly deceived people posing as the nephew of the home minister and younger brother of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner from Kamrangircahr of Dhaka on Wednesday.

The arrestee is identified as Md Jhutan Miah, a resident of Faridganj police station under Chandpur district while he used to live in Kamrangirchar area, reports UNB.

Hazaribagh police station’s Officer-in-Charge Nur Mohammad said the suspect took Tk 70 lakh from one Abdul Razzak posing as the nephew of the home minister and younger of the DMP commissioner.

The victim filed a case with Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate-1 Court while it issued an arrest warrant against him, he said.

With the help of technology, detectives detected his position and arrested him from the Kamrangirchar area on Wednesday, the OC said.

The man was handed over to the Faridganj police station to take necessary action in this regard, he added.
