A young man allegedly hacked three of his family members to death at Sonapadma village in Bera upazila of the district early Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Buli Khatun, 48, younger brother Tusher, 10, and aunt Mariam, 50, reports bdnews24.
Miah Mohammed Ashish Bin Hassan, Additional Superintendent of Police, said Tuhin hacked to death his mother, younger brother Tusher, and aunt with a sharp weapon while they were all in sleep.
Tuhin’s wife and neighbours ran to the scene hearing the screams.
Police recovered the bodies from the scene and sent to the morgue in Pabna General Hospital.
"Tuhin’s wife Runa Akter claimed he is mentally imbalanced but police are investigating the issue," Ashish said.
Suspect Tuhin has been at large since the incident, the police official said.
