Police arrested a fugitive death-row convict of Gazipur from Narsingdi sadar area on early Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Samad, son of Kuddus Mia alias Elach Khude Newaz of Bahadursadi village in Kaliganj upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station, Abu Bakar Mia said Samad was a death-row convict in the Billa Hossain alias Bilu murder case as well as wanted in several other cases.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the man around 3am.
Later on Wednesday, he was sent to jail, said the OC.
On December 7, 1995, Billa Hossain alias Bilu was killed over stealing a bottle gourd at Ishwarpur Bazar in the upazila, reports UNB.
A case was filed against ten people.
Police submitted the charge sheet accusing 13 people on October 5, 1997.
Recently, Gazipur Additional District and Session Judge Fazle Elahi sentenced 13 people including Samad to death in the case and fined each of them Tk 10,000.
