Police arrest teen for abducting, raping schoolgirl in Sherpur

A 19-year-old was arrested on Sunday for kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old schoolgirl in Nakla upazila of Sherpur.

The arrestee Sohel Miah is the son of Md Abdul Jalil Miah and a resident of Bagrakanda village.

"Sohel stalked the eighth grader," said Md Shahnewar, officer-in-charge of Nakla Police Station. "He abducted her on April 10 when the victim was going to school."

Later, the girl's father filed a case, according to a UNB report.

Police raided the house in the early morning, rescued the girl and arrested Sohel, the OC said.

The victim was sent to the civil surgeon's office for medical test.
