Police arrested five young men from Chawkbazar Jangishah Majar gate area in the port city on Friday in connection with the gang-rape of a college girl.
The arrestees were identified as Md Mohiuddin, 22, son of late Mahmudur Rahman Chowdhury, Shaiful Islam Shakib, 22, son of late Sirajul Islam, Ashik Imran, 24, son of late Abu Naser, Rajib Hossain Nayan, 22, son of Mohammad Jamal Uddin and Mosharraf Hossain Akash, 22, son of Anwar Hossain.
Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Chawkbazar Police Station, said two college girls used to live in a rented house in the area.
On July 7, a gang of youths entered the house forcibly and raped one of the girls in turns while their tutor was teaching them, reports UNB.
The gang also snatched their mobile phones, money and filmed the rape incident in their mobile.
