Eight light guns (LG), along with local weapons and ammunition have been recovered in a special joint drive conducted by police and RAB members in Chattogram’s Raozan.

No arrests have been reported until now.

The drive, conducted on the early hours of Thursday across different locations in the Upazila, has been named “Operation for the Peace of Raujan” by police, bdnews24.com reports.

On Thursday afternoon, Chattogram District Police Superintendent Md Saiful Islam Shantu said police, RAB, and River Police personnel are doing their best to “pacify” Raozan, and police are working towards building a safe Chattogram.

The joint drive, led by the district police, divided Raozan into seven zones.

Media outlets have reported at least 17 murders in Raozan over the past year.
