Police recover body of ‘abducted’ carpenter in Savar

Police recovered the body of a carpenter, who was allegedly abducted by some miscreants on January 12, from Charsangur village of Dhamrai on Friday morning.

The victim was Jotish Majumdar, 45, from Charbardail area.

Quoting locals, Sub-inspector Eklas Hossainof Savar Model Police Station said a group of miscreants abducted Jotish when he went to Nama Bazar for purchasing daily commodities.

The abductors then demanded Tk 60,000 from the victim's family as ransom over phone.

Following the incident, a written complaint was lodged with the police station on the same day.

Meanwhile, police arrested prime suspect Md Halim, 35, in this connection and according to his statement they recovered Jotish’s body from a ditch on a riverbank, UNB reports.

After recovery, the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

On the other hand, police also recovered two bodies, including that of a woman, from Kartalpur and Ashulia, police said.
