Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two youths from Mirpur Bazar in Bahubal upazila in Habiganj district of Sylhet in connection with the gang-rape of a class six madrasa girl in Balaganj upazila on November 22.
The arrestees are- Md Bashir Miah, 28, son of Sumuddin Miah, and Md Sitap Ali, 23, son of Abdul Salik, resident of Shiorkhan village of Balaganj upazila.
A team of RAB-9 Srimangal camp, led by assistant superintendent of Police Pijush Chandra Das, conducted drive in the area at 11:30am on Saturday and arrested the duo, said senior assistant Director Md Moniruzzaman of RAB-9 on Monday morning adding that the arrestees were handed over to the police station.
Earlier on November 22, a group of youth forcibly took the girl to a cowshed and violated her there in turns, UNB reported.
Victim's father filed a case with Balaganj Police Station over the incident accusing six people- two named and four unnamed- on Friday.
