Rangamati district's police chief has said that the local people are not enough sincere and active against the incidents of violence in the area.
Superintendent of Police Sayed Tariqul Hasan on Tuesday alleged that no one sought justice by filling cases over some stray incidents of murder, abduction and attack.
"Even the family members of the victims are keeping mum. People are not raising their voice against criminal activities making the tackling of violence in the hills all the more difficult," he said.
"As general people have failed to file cases police had to file cases on their behalf," the police official added.
He also said that already six accused in Jurachhari Awami League leader Arbindu murder case and 13 accused in the cases over attack on two Awami League leaders in Bilaichhari and Rangamati were arrested.
According to UNB, local people have to provide their assistance to the law enforcers to prevent the violent acts from the Hill Track region, he added.
