Police arrested a schoolteacher for his alleged involvement in raping a school girl in Sitakunda upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The detainee was identified as Mohammad Tareque, a teacher of Sitakunda Girls’ High School.
Police arrested Tareque on Saturday night soon after the victim schoolgirl filed a case with Sitakunda police station on Saturday evening, a police official said.
The victims told in the case statement that teacher Tareque took her to a residential hotel in the port city on July last and raped her with a false promise of marriage.
Abdul Kalam, Officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Sitakunda Police Station said they arrested the school teacher from Muradpur soon after the filing of the case, reports BSS.
