Police arrested on Thursday six persons for their suspected involvement in committing a daring robbery at a gold trader's residence at Dhandmondi in the capital.
They allegedly committed the robbery impersonating themselves as members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The arrestees are: Farhad Bin Mosharraf (33), Yasin Hasan (22), Mobashher Ahammed (23), Wakil Mahmud (26), Abdullah (32) and Suman (29).
Two black jackets with ' RAB' written on the back, three black caps also with 'RAB' printed on the front, one microbus, five mobile phone sets and cash Tk4,51,000 were also recovered from their possession.
Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman at a press conference on Thursday disclosed the development.
He said legal process was underway against the arrestees. Police drive was going on to nab the other accused.
The robbery took place at gold trader M A Hannan Azad's residential building in the capital's Dhandmondi area on March 26.
MA Hannan is the owner of 'Alankar Niketon Jewellers'.
A gang of 20-22 robbers stormed the residence of Azad on Road No 8 in the early hours of Wednesday.
Some of the gang members wore jackets with "RAB" written on them, while others identified themselves as magistrates and students.
