Three Chinese nationals arrested in capital for running fake iPhone factory

Police arrested three Chinese nationals for their involvement in running a fake iPhone assembling factory in the capital. The arrestees were identified as Tan Jian, Wu Jun, and Dong Hongwei.

Mahiuddin Mahmud Sohel, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB), disclosed the development to the media at a press conference on Thursday.

He said the illegal iPhone factory was operating under the supervision of some Chinese nationals. Mobile phone components, brought from abroad by evading taxes, were being illegally assembled in the secret factory and supplied to the local market as original iPhones.

DB officials conducted raids in Uttara and Nikunja areas in the capital on Wednesday and arrested the three members of the fraud ring. The arrestees were active for about one and a half years in illegally assembling iPhones, and supplied a significant number of fake phones to the market.
