Two arrested for grabbing millions of money through MTFE App

Police have arrested two people in Rajshahi on a charge of their involvement in grabbing millions of money after trapping people through the Metaverse Foreign Exchange (MTFE) app.

The arrested were identified as Dipendranath Saha, 43, son of Dijendranath Saha of Bishuhara village in Mohanpur upazila of the district and Latiful Bari Babu, 42, son of Abdur Rashid of Mohadevpur village in Naogaon district.

Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Biplob Bijoy Talukder revealed the information in a press conference at his office conference hall in Rajshahi on Thursday afternoon, reports BSS.

He said the detained persons grabbed millions of money from scores of youths after trapping them in the MTFE app making the youths empty-handed, pushing them into miserable lives.

On a tip-off, a joint team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) led by Rajpara Police Station belonging to the RMP conducted a sudden raid and nabbed them from Mohanpur upazila area in the district on Wednesday night.

Quoting their confessional statement the RMP Commissioner Biplob Talukder said they were involved in the criminal offence for a long time.

“They also gave some important information in this connection which will be beneficial in the investigation,” he added.
