Police have arrested two people for allegedly harassing a woman while she was purchasing shoes in Dhaka's Mirpur area.
The suspects, 22-year-old Md Sifat and 26-year-old Sheikh Md Mohsin were apprehended in connection with a case filed by the victim on Tuesday, according to Mirpur Model Police Station chief Sazzad Ruman.
Several unidentified suspects also face charges under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Cyber Security Act over the incident, he added.
The accused face allegations of taking photographs of the woman without her consent and circulating them on social media, according to a bdnews24.com report.
On March 24, the woman was harassed when she went to purchase shoes from a footpath store at Mirpur-10. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
The video also shows the woman being assaulted. At the same time, some people are heard calling her a thief.
