The bodies of two men have been recovered from the Bakshi Bazar area of Dhaka and Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat.

In Dhaka, police recovered the body of an unidentified man, aged around 65, from the Bakshi Bazar area in the capital on Monday morning.

The body was found around 11:00 am and was later sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College for autopsy.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahmudul Hasan of Shahbagh Police Station said they recovered the body from the footpath adjacent to the BUET playground. The man’s identity has not yet been determined.

He said the deceased appeared to be a vagabond and had an infection in his leg. He was known to roam around the area. Preliminary information suggests he died due to illness.

In Bagerhat, police recovered the body of a farmer from the bank of a shrimp enclosure in Uttar Lorar Kul area of Satoshpur Union of the upazila around 11:00 am today.

The deceased was identified as Daud Majhi, 50, son of Syed Majhi from the same village.

According to locals, Daud had leased land belonging to Kshirod Majhi and Moni Thakur, where he cultivated fish and vegetables.

He went to work at the enclosure early Monday morning. Later in the morning, villagers found him lying on the ground and informed the police.

Chitalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rokeya Khanam said police recovered the body upon receiving the report.

Preliminary findings indicate that Daud died after being electrocuted by a trap set up to kill rodents in the field.

The body is being taken to the police station, and further legal steps will be taken after speaking with the family, said the OC.
