Two children died and their mother was injured as miscreants set fire to their house while they were asleep early Wednesday in Feni.
The deceased are Rahadul Islam Golap, 6, and Maidul Islam Shahadat, 13, son of Muhammad Roni and Kamrun Nahar Poly.
The fire broke out around 1:00 am in their home in Feni town’s Birinchi area.
Quoting locals, police said, hearing their cry for help, their neighbours went to douse the fire.
The elder son, Maidul, was found dead in their room.
The injured mother and the other son were rushed to the Feni General Hospital where the duty doctor declared Rahadul dead.
Their mother is undergoing treatment at the same hospital now.
The family alleged that some of their neighbors - Anowar, Ramjan, and Jonny gave them life threats due to a dispute a few days ago.
“They set fire to the house and killed them,” said Kamrul Islam, uncle of the children.
Jasim, senior station officer at Feni Fire Station, said locals had extinguished the fire before they reached the scene.
“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, we're looking into it,” he said.
Feni Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Shahidul Islam Chowdhury said legal action will be taken in this regard.
