Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two young men in possession of huge fake currency notes and some objects used in money counterfeiting activity from the capital's Turag area.
The arrestees were identified as Naimul Islam Ishan (19) and Kefayet Ullah (19).
Senior Assistant Director of RAB-3 Sanad Barua said on Friday that a team of RAB acting on a tip-off conducted a drive on Thursday night (March 6, 2026) in the fourth floor of a building owned by Hosne Ara Akter and arrested the duo.
RAB officials recovered 5,005 counterfeit notes of Tk500 denomination from their possessions during the raid.
They also seized a laptop, two laser printing dices, a printer, and three smartphones, all reportedly used in producing fake notes.
Mr Sanad Barua further said that during initial questioning, the men admitted to being members of an organised counterfeit currency syndicate.
