Missing woman’s body recovered from septic tank

The body of a 50-year-old woman was recovered from a septic tank five days after she went missing in Burichang upazila of Cumilla district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Ferdousi Begum Nayan (50), wife of Shamsul Haque Alam, a Saudi expatriate.

Police have taken Ferdousi’s brother-in-law (debor) Alamgir Hossain and the wife of a local expatriate named Jahangir into custody for questioning.

Mohammad Azizul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Burichang Police Station, said they recovered the body, stuffed inside a sack, and sent it to a hospital morgue for autopsy.

An investigation is underway to uncover the motive and those responsible for the murder, the OC added.
