Police have arrested a Chattogram Sub-Inspector named Badruzzaman for his alleged involvement in yaba trafficking.
He is believed to be involved with a significant shipment of the contraband substance that was seized by RAB, said Sairul Islam, chief of Mirsharai Police Station.
Islam told bdnews24.com that police had grilled Badruzzaman at Khulshi Police Station after recovering the drugs.
On Friday night a RAB team found 29,285 yaba pills on a truck carrying furniture on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Mirsharai’s Nizampur area.
A diary owned by Badruzzaman, who had recently been transferred from Dhaka to Chattogram, was found in the file cabinet along with his name, BP number and contact.
The driver of the truck was also carrying his visiting card, according to police.
RAB had started a case over the incident at Mirsharai Police Station, accusing the driver and his assistant.
Badruzzaman was taken to Khulshi Police Station after he was arrested from his residence at High Level road in the port city.
