Customs officials seize 80 gold bars from Biman aircraft

Customs officials on Wednesday seized 80 gold bars from the toilet of an aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The gold bars were found at 11am from flight BG 248, which landed at the airport from Dubai around 9am, said Md Saidul Islam, assistant commissioner (Preventive) of Customs House.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs spotted the gold bars left abandoned inside a toilet of the aircraft during a drive, he added.

According to UNB, the market price of the seized gold is around Tk 46.4 million, he said.
