Cyclone Remal: 5 feet tidal surge feared in 15 coastal districts

The Meteorological Department of Bangladesh (BMD) has warned that a tidal surge of 3-5 feet above the normal level is likely to occur in 15 coastal districts and their offshore islands and chars due to the influence of Cyclone Remal, which has formed in the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Meteorological Department's 8th Special Cyclone Bulletin issued on Saturday, the tidal surge is likely to occur in Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalokati, Barguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and their offshore islands and chars.

The bulletin also said that the maximum wind speed at the centre of the cyclone is 88 kilometres per hour.
