The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has predicted the formation of one to three low-pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal this November, with at least one potentially intensifying into a cyclone or depression.
The department released its November forecast on Sunday, drawing from models provided by World Meteorological Organization-approved agencies, weather data, upper atmospheric patterns, and climate modelling.
In October, multiple low-pressure systems formed in the Bay, with one evolving into Cyclone 'Dana.'
"The low-pressure system anticipated for November may develop in the second week of the month," Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana told bdnews24.com on Sunday evening.
October recorded a 29 per cent increase in rainfall compared to seasonal norms, the department said.
November, however, is expected to experience standard rainfall levels.
Day and night temperatures are likely to drop gradually over the month but may stay one to two degrees Celsius above average.
Rivers across Bangladesh are expected to maintain normal flow.
Light to moderate fog is expected from early morning nationwide, with dense fog projected in river basins.
“While fog signals the beginning of winter, the full onset of the season is likely to be seen in December,” said Shahnaz.
Northern regions and a few other parts of the country are already experiencing early winter cues, with morning dew glistening across landscapes.
