Another victim has succumbed to her wounds after a gas leak sparked a fire at a home in Dhaka's Mirpur, raising the death toll to two.
The woman, identified as 32-year-old Ruma, died around 11:30pm on Friday at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Her husband also died from severe injuries suffered in the fire, which burnt seven people on Nov 24.
Shaon Bin Rahman, the resident doctor at the hospital’s emergency department, said Ruma had suffered burns on 20 per cent of her body.
The fire broke out in a house in Block C of Mirpur's Section 11 last week, reports bdnews24.com.
Ruma, her husband Khalil, and their three children were among the seven burnt in the incident. The other victims were also identified with single names as Shahjahan, 35, and his wife Swapna, 25.
The victims were rushed to the Burn Institute in critical condition. Dr Shaon said that the fire was likely caused by a gas leak in the kitchen, which occurred when the stove was lit early in the morning.
The condition of Khalil's two children, Abdullah and Mohammad, is particularly serious, according to Shaon. Abdullah suffered burns on 38 per cent of his body and Mohammad on 35 per cent.
