The interim government considers reasonable and justified all six demands raised by the aggrieved students of Milestone School and College over the aviation accident causing casualties, and assures prompt remedial measures.
A spokesperson for the Chief Adviser's Office stated the government stand as the students Tuesday staged agitations on the demands-and the nation mourned Monday's school tragedy.
Education Adviser C R Abrar and Law Adviser Asif Nazrul and Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam visited the haunted Milestone campus in Uttara and spoke to representatives of the demonstrating students.
At least 20 people were killed and more than 170 injured as a Bangladesh air-force training jet crashed into the Milestone building in the Uttara neighbourhood of the capital, Dhaka, on Monday afternoon.
After the discussion, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul told journalists regarding the students' demands that an information centre has been set up at Milestone School. It contains updated data on the deceased, injured, and anyone still missing.
"The information is being regularly updated. Arrangements are being made for compensation, rehabilitation, and trauma-management support for the families of the victims."
Regarding allegations that several army personnel physically assaulted students while controlling crowds, the adviser conveyed government's regret and stated that the army authorities would be notified to take appropriate measures.
He also informed the students that the Air Force would be instructed not to operate training flights over densely populated areas.
Education Adviser C R Abrar told the students that the date for the upcoming HSC examinations, scheduled for July 24, will be announced after completion of the regular exams. In a statement, meanwhile, the government dismissed as untrue the claim in a section of social media casually figures were concealed. "We are deeply concerned about certain quarters spreading misinformation, claiming that casualty figures are being concealed. We would like to state unequivocally that these claims are not true."
The statement says following the tragic accident at Milestone School and College in the capital, the government is providing all forms of assistance to the victims-both deceased and injured.
The identities of all deceased individuals are being verified and listed. For those bodies that cannot be identified visually, DNA testing is being conducted to confirm their identities.
In addition, the injured are receiving the highest-standard medical care at several hospitals in Dhaka.
