The death toll from mosquito-borne dengue fever has risen by 13 in the past 24 hours, including six in Dhaka until Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With these additional fatalities, the total casualties have reached 1,393 including 826 in Dhaka.
During the period, 1,638 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country, as reported by DGHS.
Of the new patients, 430 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside the capital.
Unfortunately, the dengue situation continues to worsen, with a growing number of deaths and cases.
Health authorities are also witnessing an increase in new cases outside of Dhaka, with DGHS reporting 1,208 new hospitalisations in these areas.
The report estimates that the mortality rate among hospitalised patients is approximately 0.5 per cent.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
Meanwhile, the total number of dengue cases has risen to 277,801 with Dhaka alone accounting for 100,717 cases, according to DGHS.
Currently, there are 6,636 patients receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, with 1,837 of them in Dhaka.
Of the total number of patients admitted, 269,772 have recovered and returned home, including 98,054 from Dhaka.
