The death toll from dengue fever in the country has crossed 400 this year, with 18 deaths registered on Monday.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported 18 deaths in 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 416.
Meanwhile, 2,480 hospitalizations were also recorded during the same period of time till 8:0 am Monday across the country, including 919 from Dhaka, according to DGHS.
The ever worsening dengue situation has yet to show any sign of improvement as the government continues to report a record number of new hospitalizations. Cases outside Dhaka remained high, DGHS data said.
The dengue hospitalization continues to rise outside Dhaka as the DGHS reported 1,561 cases out of the new hospitalizations.
With the new casualties, the death tolls crossed 416 in dengue fever, including 318 from Dhaka.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
Meanwhile, the total dengue cases rose to 87,891. Of the total cases, 43,665 were from Dhaka, added DGHS.
A total of 9,431 people were being treated across the country in hospitals. Of them, 4,140 were from Dhaka. Of the total admitted, 78,044 patients made recovery and returned home, and of them, 39,207 were from Dhaka.
