Three people died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours to Monday across the country, while 782 new patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of dengue deaths this year has reached 215, and the number of detected cases has risen to 50,689.
Of the newly hospitalised patients, 174 were from Barishal division, 83 from Chattogram, 145 from Dhaka division, 118 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 90 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 57 from Khulna, 35 from Mymensingh, 64 from Rajshahi, 11 from Rangpur, and 5 from Sylhet division.
Among the three latest deaths, two occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation and one in Khulna division.
In the same 24-hour period, 745 dengue patients were released from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 48,001.
Bangladesh recorded the highest number of dengue cases in a single day this year between October 4 and October 5, with 1,042 people diagnosed. According to DGHS, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths in 2024.
The highest toll was reported in 2023, when 1,705 people died and 321,179 were hospitalised with dengue.
