Dense fog halts ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route

Dense fog has forced authorities to suspend ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority’s Daulatdia office Manager Md Salahuddin said the suspension took effect from 7pm on Friday to prevent accidents.

Dense fog blurred visibility along the river route, he said, adding the service will resume after the fog clears.

The BIWTA was unaware whether any ferries were stuck halfway through when the route was shut down.

“But there are no vehicles on any sides of the route, waiting to cross the river,” said Salahuddin.
