Train connections between Dhaka and other parts of the country remained suspended for three hours on Wednesday following the derailment of two waggons of a freight train near Kamalapur rail station in the capital.

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, station master of Kamalapur Railway Station, said two waggons of the container train from Chattogram veered off the tracks around 11:35 am while entering the Kamalapur station, forcing the authorities to halt train movement.

Around 1:10 am, the authorities started resuming the operation of trains on single tracks from the station.

However, the rail movement returned to normal around 2:30 pm after the removal of the two waggons from the rail tracks, he said.
