According to the City College authorities, seven students of the college were injured in the mayhem. Of them, two severely injured were taken to a nearby private hospital.

The City College authorities announced to file lawsuits against those involved as part of legal action on behalf of the injured students.

The Dhaka College authorities also announced strict disciplinary action would be taken if anyone is found involved in the clash.

Assistant Police Commissioner (Dhanmondi Zone) of Ramna Division, Shah Mostafa Tariquzzaman, said it was initially reported that students of City College beat up two students of Dhaka College on Thursday. Tension arose between the two groups over the incident, he added.

Earlier, on the afternoon of February 5, a dispute arose between students of Dhaka City College and Dhanmondi Ideal College over a trivial incident and dominance.

Although the situation calmed down after intervention of the police and the college administration, the situation heated up again on February 9.

At one stage, more than a hundred students of Dhanmondi Ideal College came with sticks that afternoon and removed the 'City' part from the nameplate of Dhaka City College.
