The residents of Dhaka have experienced the hottest day of the year in mid-rainy season.

Temperature in the capital soared to a sizzling 37.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the highest  this year, the Met Office said.

But the people felt the heat much more due to high humidity on a rainless day, meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque told bdnews24.com.

Dhaka's temperature rose by 3.0 degrees Celsius in a span of 24 hours.

On Wednesday, the highest temperature in the country was 36.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.

The highest temperature in Dhaka was 34.7 degrees Celsius.

Weatherman Nazmul, however, feels that the weather was not unusual because there was no rain in the beginning of Shrabon, the second month of the rainy season of Barsha lin the Bangla calendar.

The temperature in Dhaka was 40.2 degrees Celsius on Apr 22, 2014, the highest in the capital in five decades.

This season, the highest temperature of the country was 40 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi on June 15.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature in the country was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius in Rangpur’s Rajarhat, reports bdnews24.com.
