Dhaka's rail link with north, southwest regions snapped

Dhaka’s train communication with the north and southwest regions of the country was disrupted after the engine of Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express broke down in the Sonakhali area under Kaliakair Police Station on Thursday evening.

The station master of Joydebpur Junction Railway Station Hanif Ali told the Daily Star newspaper that the incident occurred around 6:40 pm.

He said the rail communication is expected to resume once the broken engine is replaced with the new one coming from Dhaka.
