DMP arrests 26 in anti-narcotics drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a 24-hour-long anti-narcotics drive arrested 26 drug suspects from different areas of the capital for selling and consuming illegal drugs.

A special team of DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police and other law officials, launched the drive in various places of the city and seized 1,747 pieces of yaba tablets, 40 grams heroin, 1500 grams cannabis; according to a DMP statement issued on Friday.

A total of 16 cases were filed under the Narcotic Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.

The drive began at 6:00am on Thursday and ended at 6:00am today (Friday), the statement added.
