Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sazzad Ali on Saturday said they would upgrade the image of police to a unique height through serving the people.
“Our main job is to serve the people. We must take the image of the police to a unique height by doing positive work for the people despite many hurdles,” he said.
The DMP commissioner was addressing a welfare meeting of police at the Shaheed SI (Sub Inspector) Shahjahan Auditorium by Public Order Management (POM) in Mirpur.
He urged the members of the police force to work hard, forgetting all the hardships, saying everybody should work with utmost sincerity and professionalism to brighten the image of the police.
At the outset of the program, the DMP Commissioner observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of July-August movement.
Later, prayers were offered, seeking the eternal peace of the martyrs and the speedy recovery of the injured.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Admin) Faruk Ahmed presided over the meeting while Joint Police Commissioner (POM) Khandaker Faridul Islam delivered the welcome address.
Senior police officials of different ranks of DMP were present.
