The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday realised over Tk 2.092 million in fines from traffic offenders.
In simultaneous drives on the city streets conducted on the day, the DMP filed a total of 3,322 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violations, according to DMP data.
Of the cases, 736 were lodged for wrong side driving, 73 for using hydraulic horns, eight for using hooters and beacon lights, and 15 others for using tinted glasses.
Police also filed 1,442 cases against motorcycles and seized 70 others for violating traffic rules. It also filed cases against 18 motorcyclists for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the DMP dumped 18 vehicles and wrecked 655 others during the drive.
