The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) realised Tk 2.7 million in fines from traffic offenders on Tuesday.
A total of 5,585 cases were filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement on Wednesday.
Of the cases, 788 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 88 for using hydraulic horns, five for using hooters and beacon lights, and 14 others for installing tinted glasses.
The division also filed 2,172 cases against motorcyclists and seized 117 motorcycles. A total of 15 motorcyclists faced charges for using mobile phones while driving.
The traffic police reportedly dumped 31 vehicles and wrecked 813 others during the day-long drive.
