The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday realised over Tk 3.102 million in fines from traffic offenders.
In simultaneous drives on the city streets conducted on the day, the DMP filed a total of 6,722 cases against different modes of vehicles for the traffic rule violations, according to DMP data.
Of the cases, 1,132 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 139 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 17 others for installing tinted glasses.
The department also filed 2,704 cases against motorcycles and seized 134 others over the violations. It also filed cases against 13 bikers for using mobile phones while riding.
In addition, the DMP dumped 40 vehicles and wrecked 849 others during the drive.
