Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Harun Or Rashid has said that it is being investigated whether any infiltrator entered the quota protesting movement, and whether anyone is fueling it or not.
He said this in response to questions from journalists at his office in Minto Road on Saturday afternoon.
Responding to a query, Harun Or Rashid said, "Has any intruder infiltrated the quota movement? Is there any evidence of incitement among the protesting students? The DMP team is actively investigating these matters."
"If anyone disregards the High Court's directives and engages in road blockades, attacks vehicles, and resorts to violence under the guise of a movement, we can assume that infiltrators are involved in such activities," he added.
Harun Or Rashid, also the Chief of Detective Branch (DB) of DMP, highlighted that quota issues are not exclusive to Bangladesh and are prevalent in many countries.
He noted that the Supreme Court's Appellate Division has imposed a one-month status quo on the government job quota system, asserting that everyone should abide by the court's directives.
Regarding recent incidents where students have been disrupting normal traffic flow by occupying various roads instead of attending classes, Harun pointed out that these actions have led to legal cases being filed.
He emphasised the importance of respecting judicial authority and law enforcement, stating, "If anyone believes they can disregard the court or police, then what options do we have? We will enforce the rule of law to protect public order and ensure normal movement of people."
