All police stations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) can now provide general diary (GD) filing services online through a mobile app, according to Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
The services, introduced on August 10, can be obtained through the online GD app. After successfully filing a GD, the system would provide an applicant a GD number and other information.
"The online GD system will also maintain secrecy handling applicant's personal information," he said, adding that the police will accept a GD application after scrutinising the applicant's registered mobile number and NID.
The online GD filing system will not only save citizens' valuable time, but also ensure accountability and transparency of the services offered by the police.The system will also help people know about the updates of the GD they file. The traditional system for filing GD will also continue for the time being, he added.
