DMP orders to shut shops, kitchen markets by 7:00pm every day

All shops, superstores and kitchen markets in Dhaka to will be closed by 7:00pm every day as the coronavirus outbreak in the country continued to intensify.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam issued the directive on Monday, report bdnews24.com, UNB.

But drugstores and emergency services are exempted from the order, according to DMP commissioner.

“Shops that will defy the directive will be forced to shut down in the public interest,” he said.

Besides, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said grocery stores and small shops of different areas can remain open until 2:00pm from 6:00am.

The decision came as Bangladesh confirmed 35 new virus cases in a record single-day spike, taking the tally of positive tests to 123. The death toll rose to 12.
