DMP realises over Tk 3.178 million in fines from traffic offenders

The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday realised over Tk 3.178 million in fines from traffic offenders.
In simultaneous drives across the city streets conducted on the day, the DMP filed a total of 5,684 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violations, according to DMP data.
Of the cases, 1,208 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 96 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 17 others for installing tinted glasses.
Police also filed 2,485 cases against motorcycles and seized 139 others for violating traffic rules. It also filed cases against 30 bikers for using mobile phones while driving.
In addition to the fines, the DMP dumped 31 vehicles and wrecked 876 others during the drive.
