The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in a statement on Monday, requested everyone not to block roads in the name of protests, as such actions create persistent traffic snarls in the capital city and cause massive suffering to the public.
The Traffic Division of the DMP is making vital efforts to reduce traffic congestion; however, incidents of road blockades for any reason are causing widespread public suffering.
In the greater interest of city dwellers and for the sake of proper traffic management, the DMP has made a special request to all concerned to refrain from unnecessarily blocking roads.
Recently, severe traffic congestion has been created in the capital due to road blockades in the name of various demands and protest programmes, the statement said.
As a result, school, college, and university students, as well as office-going passengers, are facing various inconveniences, it continued.
Serious disruption is also being caused in the transportation of outbound international passengers and sick patients with urgent needs, it added.
