The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought court approval to conduct DNA tests on Nachol Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamal Hossain, his biological parents, and his uncle and aunt to verify allegations that he fraudulently used the identity of a freedom fighter’s child to secure his government job.

According to ACC officials, a case (No. 30, dated December 26, 2024) was filed by Deputy Assistant Director Md Monjurul Islam Mintu under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Penal Code for forgery, cheating, and misuse of the freedom fighter quota.

The case accuses Kamal Hossain, a 35th batch BCS (Administration) cadre officer, of falsifying his family background to gain university admission and later employment under the quota system.

Investigators allege that Kamal replaced the names of his biological parents — Md Abul Kashem and Habiya Khatun of Sirajnagar village in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila — with those of his uncle and aunt, freedom fighter Md Ahsan Habib and Sanoara Khatun, in official records to claim benefits reserved for war heroes’ children.

The ACC’s investigating officer has sought court permission to conduct the DNA tests, which will proceed upon judicial authorisation.

If the allegations are proven, officials said, Kamal could face serious administrative and legal action for violating service rules and criminal laws.
