DNCC clarifies use of 'red carpet' at canal renovation event

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has explained the laying of a red carpet-like mat for advisers to board a floating excavator during a canal renovation ceremony in the capital’s Mirpur-13.

The paths to the excavator were steep, muddy and slippery, and so the red carpet-like mat was laid for them to board it safely, it said in a press release on Sunday amid controversy.

Earlier, during the canal renovation event, Advisers Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adilur Rahman Khan and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan boarded the excavator to inaugurate the renovation work.
