Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has deployed over 5,000 sanitation workers to clear the waterlogging caused by the incessant rain which started early morning today (Friday).
The rain, which lasted over three hours, submerged several roads and alleys in the capital. The Meteorological Department recorded 60mm of rainfall there from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.
Due to the waterlogging, several vehicles broke down on the roads, causing traffic congestion.
The north city corporation also deployed 10 quick response teams, each consists 10 members, in 10 areas, according to a press release signed by DNCC Public Relations Officer Maqbool Hossain.
Five water pumps in Kalyanpur have been set simultaneously since morning for quick relief of waterlogging, said the release.
The DNCC urged people to call its hotline number 16106 if any water accumulated anywhere in the city.
